Starting in 2008 I began building a locost based chassis. I have since then, mounted the front subframe of an Infiniti I30 on the back of the frame. The car is powered by a VQ30de V6 engine, has a circle track style steering, with Miata hubs. The dash is from the I30 and the seats are tuner custom seats. I expect the car to weight around 1500lbs dry and have around 230hp. The engine will be mostly stock with the addition of VQ35de cams. It has an automatic trans with limited slip as well.
The car started life as 1x1 tubes.
And made its way into being a basic frame.
I purchased a 1997 Infiniti I30 for $500 and proceeded to remove the front of the car for my project, leaving this for the scrapers:
I mounted the front subframe to the rear of the locost chassis.
Here is a shot of the nearly completed front suspension.
Here is the car outside for the first time as a roller. The engine is mounted as well.
I added side pods for the fuel and battery. This is the most current image of the car.
Fuel tank mounted and out in the sun:
